New York, New York

First and foremost, I apologize for my lack of blogging. Even though I haven't been blogging, that doesn't mean I haven't been writing. Writing is my life.  In the past year I have been consumed with internships I have been writing for (more to come on that) and writing in my journal.

The past three years of my college life have been building up to the momentous day when I could finally apply to Baylor in New York. BUNY is a well-renowned, semester long communications program - yes, based in New York. The program consists of six hours of film courses and, at least, six hours of an internship you find yourself. I have been anticipating applying for the program for so long that when the day finally came, I didn't realize how nerve-racking it would be. I have been planning my ENTIRE college education around participating in BUNY; I am double majoring in Journalism - PR and Film and Digital Media, and the semester in the big city would be the last few credits I needed to complete my FDM degree.

After editing and over-thinking my application for weeks, I finally submitted it, and did not breathe until a month later when the lucky 14 students were announced. Every time my phone alerted me that I had a new email, my heart would skip a beat as I checked my inbox for that name - Dr. Joe Kickasola. The day came. I was on the two hour trek home for the weekend, and I heard that faint beep. Ignoring the road, I opened my email and see "You are going to New York!"

To make a potentially long story short, I was ecstatic.

Seven months later, I am now searching for that coveted internship. Aspiring to be a broadcast journalist, I am applying for internships such as The Today Show, ESPN, Good Morning America, etc. I have always been drawn to NBC, and my dream (excuse the cheesiness) is to work for Today. Other NBC programs I am applying for are shows such as Jimmy Fallon (love you!) and SNL. I am open to anything that will help me learn more about broadcast.

SHAMELESS PLUG: Feel free to get in touch with me if you have any connections/suggestions for internships in New York ; )

I plan on updating my blog with the progress of my New York search, and I most definitely will write about my experiences when I move there in January.

And I leave you with a quote,

"Keep your dreams alive. Understand to achieve anything requires faith and belief in yourself, vision, hard work, determination, and dedication. Remember all things are possible for those who believe."
