My New Reporter-Do

A few weeks ago I finally decided to take the plunge - cut off my long locks. What a relief it was! As I sipped on a mimosa, at a salon named Mimosa (Kathie Lee and Hoda would be proud), my hairdresser began to cut my hair. She snipped a bit from the front and then asked, "Like this, or shorter?" I responded fearlessly, "shorter." She said, "Good, because I already cut about six inches off the back!"

Once all was dried and done, I loved my new, short look. I joked that it's my "reporter-do" and that it was inevitable that I get the short, journalist cut. I began thinking about some of my favorite female anchors and journalists and realized, it really is a reporter-do!

Katie Couric and Ann Curry both sported a very similar reporter-do. Even Hoda with her bad hair (her words, not mine!) rocks the cut. I can image Kathie Lee reading this making a sour face because she wasn't mentioned. KLG - I'm blonde, you're blonde, let's say you inspired me.

So that's what I'm going with. My short hair is my reporter-do. Just in time for my venture to New York  in January. Hopefully, my short hair will be on display at my internship at a broadcast network. Who knows, maybe it will even be the Today Show!

And I'll leave you with some inspiration from my favorite ladies -

"Life's not perfect. Some loose ends may never get trimmed up and tidied."
-Hoda Kotb, How I Survived War Zones, Bad Hair, Cancer, and Kathie Lee.
(P.S. I own her book. I read her book. I love her book.)

"Beauty doesn't matter because in the end, we all lose our looks and all we have is our heart."
-Ann Curry

"Obviously, people in Texas have big hearts."
-Katie Couric
(Why Thank you, Katie Couric.)
